When it comes to back-to-school fashion, I think we all have a few trends we would rather not admit to wearing. At my high school in Seattle, pajamas became a “thing,” and I remember wearing this terrible flannel pair to school (on picture day, no less!).
I recently sat down with actress Ali Larter, who has appeared in films such as Legally Blonde and Resident Evil: Afterlife and the TV show Heroes to talk about a new fashion throwback contest she’s participating in (more on that later), so it seemed like the perfect time to ask her about her best (and worst) fashion moments from her high school days back in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
“The fashion I wore makes me cringe a little bit,” she said, showing me her “super-embarrassing” senior class photo. Hey, Ali, I think this pic is actually pretty cute!
“I love that a little grunge is coming back,” she told me. “Kate Moss in the ’90s was the hottest thing ever. I love Dr. Martens with a minidress and Birkenstocks.” She said she’s even wearing her old Betsey Johnson dresses from the ’90s again! “I wore this long black dress from her with flowers on it three days ago!”
In the spirit of celebrating those old fashion moments, Ali has partnered with Microsoft Office for a Back to School Throwback Sweepstakes. You can visit Facebook.com/Office and submit your own throwback photo from when you were in school and enter to win a year’s subscription to Office 365 Home Premium or a Surface Pro.
Ali got involved in the contest while using Microsoft Word to write her first book, Kitchen Revelry: A Year of Festive Menus rom My Home to Yours, which comes out Sept. 10.
