Eden Miller makes history with her plus-size clothes presented at New York Fashion Week. “I actually didn’t realize until later that Cabiria would be the first plus line in the tents. In other words, making accidental history was simply a plus” the designer said.
Cabiria line made history on Friday by becoming the first plus-size collection to show during the Fashion Law Institute presentation at Lincoln Center.
“I need to do this right” she said. “I want to be one of the designers at Fashion Week so that I can open the door for other designers who are valid choices to be there.”
“My whole life, I had seen beautiful clothing, I had touched beautiful clothing but I couldn’t wear it,” Eden Miller said. “In design school, all of our dress forms were a size 8 and all of my classmates got to wear all the projects that they made, and I still had to make a size 8 and then it would be essentially garbage.”
Now she gets to be part of those changes in a major way, as the first designer to show a plus size line at New York Fashion Week.
