Jannissima – NEO NOMADISM at Pitti

Jannissima bags and jewellry S/S 2014

Neo Nomad is a new line of bags and jewellry by Jannissima. This series which is produced in an eco-conscious way has three validated eco-certificates*. For this new collection designer Jannita van den Haak was inspired by the Bedouins and other African cultures. The result is a combination of ethnic influences with practical urban elements. The line is produced partly in Uganda and in the Netherlands so offering the best of both worlds. A product that looks good and helps to improve lives.

From beach-bag to handbag

Neo Nomad offers a six piece bag collection in warm beige, brown and red colours for the contemporary working woman. The bags have practical elements like leather straps for a beach towel or a yoga mat and can quickly be transformed from a beach-bag into a handbag. The linen shopper, for example, can be changed into a model XL clutch. The luxurious handbag and a-symmetrical backpack are fully lined and have a separate compartment with a zipper for a safe travel. The trolley is lined with a special hemp fabric and insulation so it can act as a coolbox on a warm summer day.

Eco linen and leather

Neo Nomad distinguishes itself by natural colours and rough textures. The bags are made of one of the most environmentally friendly leathers in the world which also has anti-allergic properties. This soft material is combined with woven linen made from European cultivated flax. The linen has a natural sheen and is coated with beeswax creating a water repellent fabric.

Jewelry: Paper pearls from Uganda

The Neo Nomad jewellery collection is made of glass, leather, hand-rolled beads from recycled paper and coins. The coins are inspired by the jewellery of Bedouin women who wear these as symbols of luck. Inspired by ethnic fabrics the beads are in warm hues and vary from shades of red to dark indigos and have been made durable by a coating that also creates subtle tones of colour. The beads are produced by women in Uganda with the aid of the sustainable development program ‘Bead for Life’. They receive an intensive entrepreneurial training which gives them the opportunity to change their lives and earn a stable income.

A new addition to the Trolley collection

In addition to the existing basic travel bags collection, this season Jannissima presents a Horsey limited edition in two different colours, ‘Burgundy’ and ‘Sand’. The trolley and handbag are handmade from the finest Italian leather, have a unique and exclusive look and feel and are manufactured with the most advanced technologies.
