While I pretty much live and die for major red carpet events like the Oscars or the Golden Globes—oh the glamour, the glitz!—I also really enjoy celebrities taking it down a notch. As in: dressing up the way you or I might dress up for a party, instead of going full-on ball gown. Check out these three celebs on the red carpet at last night’s Pretty Little Liars season finale screening in New York City. I love their easy-to-wear looks—which can all be dressed down or up and are totally translatable into real-world wardrobes. What do you think?
Lucy Hale‘s Stella McCartney snake-print dress may not be accessible to everyone’s budget, but the idea definitely is! A subtle pastel animal print looks fresh and modern this spring—especially in a simple straight silhouette. Wear it with flats and a little denim jacket for daytime—and dress it up, like Lucy, with patent pumps and a little bag for evening.
Vanessa Ray chose a textured little white skater dress for the season finale screening of Pretty Little Liars in New York City. Take a tip from her this spring and stock up on stretchy skater-silhouette dresses (I am!) in lots of different colors. These dresses are versatile—somehow both casual and dressy all at once—and can even be worn with boots under woolly sweaters or sweatshirts in colder months.
Ashley Benson is wearing the Hollywood red carpet look of the moment—a menswear-inspired tux look. Her Paule Ka top, Alexander Wang pants, and Saint Laurent bow tie may not be within everyone’s budget, but you can definitely put this dramatic, fashionable look together on your own. Look for a tuxedo-inspired tailored jacket, wear it with your favorite white shirt (or even over a tee if you’re so inclined), and take or leave the bow tie. In the ’90s, lots of celebs wore their tuxedo jackets over white or black tees paired with jeans—let’s bring that look back!
