How to Wear Culottes Even If You Are Not That Tall

If you asked me this time last year if I’d be wearing culottes, I’d say yes, but with a bit of apprehension. I, of course, know the dos and don’ts of styling them but wanted to wait until I found some street-style inspiration for ways to pull them off. Well, the time has arrived, folks.

First things first: Find a pair that hits midcalf—no longer, no shorter. They’ll read as a swingy midiskirt and function as an office-appropriate alternative to go-to bottoms on days when it’s not too hot/not too cool, weatherwise. Pair the wide-leg cropped pants with a graphic sweater and heels (think sleek sandals or sharp pumps) and finish with a classic topper.

Silk, satin, and linen versions are great options if you’re going straight from work to hanging with girls or on a date. Slightly dressier but not over the top. Choose a waist-defining pair that you can tuck a cami or button-down into and finish with a pair of mules to make your legs look epically long.
