Although born in Azeitão just outside Lisbon, Nuno Gama moved north to the city of Porto as a child and that’s where he became one of the best-known national fashion designers. He launched his own brand early in the career, always inspired by Portuguese culture. His creations are now sold worldwide and after several years in Porto, his shop moved to Lisbon in 2012. It’s found in the neighborhood of Principe Real, where in addition to men’s fashion there is also footwear and accessories. Nuno Gama is a fashion designer whose studies included coursework at the prestigious Citex Fashion School of Porto. Soon after, he began participating in major fashion events, such as the Lisbon and Portugal shows; the Nouvel Espace in Paris; and the Gaudi in Barcelona. Inspired by Portuguese culture and tradition, he created his own fashion company, Nuno Gama Textiles, Inc., and in 1996 opened the first of nine stores he currently owns in Portugal. His line has been recognized internationally for its quality, and is now marketed in the US, Canada, Japan and most of Europe.
