If you’re not shopping at thrift stores, you’re missing out on opportunities to find some amazing treasures (and deals!). Lorde is the latest celeb to cop to being a big fan, telling Style.com about a certain St. John find at a Palm Beach store.
“I got this navy blue vintage suit with gold buttons. It fits me perfectly. I wear it onstage all the time. It’s my favorite, and I didn’t even need to get it tailored. It’s my best find by far, and it was $50, which is more than I like to spend at a thrift store.”
Who else is in the Hollywood thrift club? All Women Stalk report that Zooey Deschanel, Julia Roberts, and Janelle Monae are all proud wears of pre-owned duds too.
The other piece of thrift news that made my heart sing? According to DNA Info, a second-grade teacher in Brooklyn took her Etsy shop (established 2007) offline, setting up a brick-and-mortar to deal in her collected items from the 1950s through the 1990s.
“You can’t compare the quality of the fabric, the aesthetics of the design. It’s just incredible,” said teacher-cum-shopgirl Stellah Johnson. At around $100, her priciest items include ball gowns from the ’50s, which means, you know, I now have to go shop.
