An exhibition of over 100 Greta Garbo artefacts opened on Sunday at the Newbridge Silverware Museum of Style Icons in Kildare.
The collection includes clothing, accessories, furnishings and other previously unavailable property. Dresses from the exhibition are modelled left by Adrienne Murphy and Hannah Devene.
Now, film and fashion enthusiasts have an opportunity to experience the personal collection of the star with an exhibition of the Property of Greta Garbo in the Newbridge Silverware Museum of Style Icons, where in excess of 100 personal artifacts will go on public display from Sept 28th – Nov 16th.
“This exhibit reveals the mystique and mysteriousness of Garbo, (…) She wanted everyone to remember her as she was in her 30s and to always preserve that look. She didn’t want us to know her as she was ageing. (…) Her family speak of her as a very fun character, they talk of her doing somersaults on the lawn in her 60s. This exhibit offers a look at that side of her.” Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles, told the Irish Independent.
