You know it’s a good weekend when Kate Middleton makes not one but two high-profile appearances. And shows us how to do both formal and ceremonial, plus Sunday casual for the summer. (Well, summer in England, which doesn’t look to be too balmy as of yet.)
On Saturday morning, the Duchess, along with Prince William and Harry, celebrated grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth’s 88th birthday at the Trooping the Colour parade. (Yes, the Queen’s official birthday was in April, but the festivities just keep on going.) For the occasion, Kate debuted a light blue and summer-appropriate brocade jacket and dress set by British design house Alexander McQueen. She also slyly showed some edge—if you take a very careful look at the bodice of the jacket, you can see a couple of signature McQueen skulls peeking out from the texture. Sneaky, sneaky Sarah Burton. Kate elegantly accessorized with a matching Jane Taylor fascinator, a pearl brooch, and earrings set.
Kate also made a surprise appearance on Sunday—with George!—to support hubby William and bro-in-law Harry as they played on competing teams in a polo match at the Cirencester Park Polo Club. Kate repeated her Me + Em Breton shirt and Sebago Bala boat shoes that she wore that time she twice beat Wills in a sailing race in New Zealand. George—who was not looking too happy to be there— continued rockin’ the overalls trend.
