Attention aspiring designers: LVMH just made your dream job a touch more attainable with the introduction of a new program offering certifications and degrees through established fashion schools. Officially called L’Institut des Metiers d’Excellence, it will cover courses in jewelry arts and dressmaking, reports The New York Times. Plus, there’s an opportunity, paid, to apprentice with LVMH brands (the stable of which currently includes big names like Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Céline, and Givenchy).
Anyone out there dreamed of creating the next Antigona or Luggage tote? Fret not. The story reports that there are plans to expand to leather goods, as well as sales and visual merchandising.
All in all, it’s a savvy move. I’m sure students will flock to the courses and the company is basically creating a future workforce, trained in any particulars it likes and expects.
