So, I’m a big Real Housewives of New Jersey fan, and when I got word that the fabulous Melissa Gorga had launched a line of jewelry on HSN, I was all about it. Then, when I heard that she’d be around to chat at a showing, I made sure my calendar was clear. Like, totally cleared.
First things first—she was really sweet, and I had a good time chatting with her (I even caved and took a pic for Instagram. I know, such a nerd). The pieces are all available on HSN now and cap out at $100. Melissa’s favorites? A chunky golden necklace and a horn piece that has a special place in Italian culture. “It blesses and protects you. You’re supposed to receive it as a gift from someone, and it wards off evil,” she explained. “It’s an Italian thing.”
Here’s what else she had to say about:
The favorite piece of jewelry she’s ever received as a gift:
“My most wow was when [my husband] Joe, we were just dating and it was our first Christmas, gave me a diamond tennis bracelet. For me, I was just getting out of college, and I’ve never owned a diamond tennis bracelet, and I was like, ‘What is this and why?’ I thought it was so sweet and he worked hard and he bought it for me. I still remember, to this day, I was like ‘I have a diamond tennis bracelet?!’ It was big for me! Coming out of college, I’d put it on and be scared to wear it. I’d leave it in the jewelry box, and he’d be like, ‘Are you gonna wear it?’ I’d say, ‘I don’t know. I’ll think about it.'”
Regretting outfits she wore when she sees them again on Real Housewives of New Jersey:
“Of course! You get like, ‘What? What was I even thinking?!’ You see it on camera and it’s HD and it’s like whoa.”
On the thing in her jewelry box that would most surprise us:
“I have toe rings. I think they’re so cute! I have a whole section of toe rings, I kid you not. Not gaudy ones; very simple. They’re so pretty when you have a nice pedicure in the summer. People forget about toe rings.”
Guys: I left our little chat so charmed I’m even thinking about giving toe rings a second chance. Maybe. See some of my favorite pieces from the collection below.
