Travel from New York to California, down to Texas or up to Chicago, and you’re gonna see high heels. Girls will be girls, no matter the zip. But a handy new infographic from Gilt is ready to crown a particular state as having the ladies who love their heels highest. Ready for it?
It’s Nevada! Technically, Puerto Rico bests it with heels averaging 2.87 inches high, but I’m most fascinated by continental states. Florida’s the next highest, followed by Texas and then a spate of southern states, California, North Dakota, and Michigan.
I’m not shocked that New York didn’t crack the top tier since Manhattan life involves a lot of walking, but as a native Floridian, I’m a little surprised by that one. We obviously wear heels, but so much style down South is beachy-casual and anything more than sandals would feel like overkill. After packing heels for my first trip home freshman year of college, I learned my lesson and never wasted the suitcase space again.
