Walking the red carpet at a mega awards show seems like it’d be stressful enough, but imagine if you’re hosting and expected to change, oh, a few times throughout the evening. Now, imagine if you’re Carrie Underwood, co-host of last night’s CMA Awards, and you’ve got a fashion game plan that includes ten outfit switches (11 if you’re counting the gorgeous gold gown she walked the red carpet in). Now, steel yourself with an extra sip of coffee and let’s examine.
She went for dark sparkles in this short-sleeve, to-the-ground Theia gown.
And performed in frothy white tulle, accented with embroidered gray blooms at the waist and bust.
She picked sapphire blue with some ruching and purposeful wrinkling all over, all the better to show off her baby bump.
One of my favorites of the outfit parade was this elegant, one-shoulder red number she wore when she mingled in the audience.
This bright pink and white combination, a custom number by Theia, might’ve been her cheeriest of the night…
Though this short, flippy style, in a blush so light it borders on white, was also pretty girly. The majority of the dresses she chose seemed to hide her bump, so I loved this shot that showed her sweetly showing it off. Also obsessed with her nude Brian Atwood sandals.
She flashed her gams in this silver sequin mini (similar in style to her black pick and a lot like the Topshop one Beyonce rocked earlier this week).
A filmy forest green robe covered what looks like even more sparkles here.
In fact, I wondered if it was this glittery paisley cocktail frock hiding under there, but I’ve decided to go with no. Don’t you love how the print of this one shakes it up compared to traditional, all-over sequins?
This was my other favorite! The pale sea foam shade is so pretty and I love how it looks light as air. Maybe it’s because of Carrie’s Sound of Music connections, but it has me thinking of that gorgeous lilac dress Liesel wore to jump around the veranda. Yes?
