These Koalas Need Mittens to Protect Their Burned Paws

Aww, you guys—injured koalas who were burned in brushfires in South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales need mittens to protect their paws as they heal!

The International Fund for Animal Welfare is asking people to make and donate simple cotton mittens, using this pattern, that will cover burn cream-treated paws. Just like human burn victims, recovery can take a while and bandages have to be changed often so a constant supply is needed. Send your mittens to IFAW at 6 Belmore Street, Surry Hills, Sydney, NSW 2010, and IFAW will distribute them to vets and wildlife carers, throughout Australia, who treat koalas.
