My lifelong girl-crush Victoria Beckham invited The New York Times into her London office for a tour and a chat and, gosh, it’s just wonderful. She talks about starting her business and how, since she doesn’t sketch, it was a lot of physical work: “Me, literally, in my knickers putting on the clothes saying, ‘How do I feel?’ ‘How do I look?'”
Here’s her office space, designed to be very neutral and simple. I’m really feeling that extra-long desk and I love, love the large framed pic of all her children hung on the wall.
Later in the video she talks about how hard it is to raise children while building a brand, saying she’s in the office until late sometimes (especially if a collection’s about to show like, er, right now). She asked Diane von Furstenberg if she ever felt guilty about it and to show DVF’s answer, she leans back in her chair and says “Never” in a slightly deeper declarative tone.
