Interesting things to do on your Friday before lunchtime: Investigate a new printed dress covered in…poo emojis. The friendly little emoji has been having quite a fashion moment appearing on shirts and shoes, and now ladies who love a retro-fitted silhouette can get in on the action because, yup, it’s there.
If you haven’t read this seriously fascinating New York magazine article on the history of emojis, I recommend it, not least because it confirms the oddity of that smiling pile as a Japanese symbol for good luck. It’s simply kinda cute too, as odd as it is to say, so I get why we’re a little obsessed.
The oddest thing to me is how completely normal the print looks until you’re about six inches away. Then and only then do I actually see that it’s not a graphic, ’70s kinda print, but…you know. The dress will cost you $100, and you can place your order here. It’s not a total yes that it’s going to actually be made either; it’s part of a crowdfunding site and, with 20 days left to go, has currently met 46 percent of its required goal to get to production.
