When i think of the world of fashion, the first two things that come into my mind are the models and the designers.
But behind these people however are the makeup artists and hairstylists. They play an important role as they enhance the model’s beauty and complement the designer’s creations. They have skillful hands that use the brushes to make the models look even better than perfect.
Of course there are many makeup artists but i’d like to zoom into the models who caught my attention because of the graphical themes.
Pat McGrath (UK)
One of the most influential makeup artist in the world today. Forr Maison Margiela. A debut. John Galliano held his first ready-to-wear show for the house in Paris. A world of pure imagination. Eccentric characters with clown-like makeup with purple, pink, blue neon highlight layerings on the runway. Neon choppy, brightly colored wigs. Theatrical, like we used to Galliano and i love it! Hairstylist: Eugene Souleiman.
Aaron de Mey (New Zealand) for Kenzo ‘Tribal freedom’
He made the models look like warrior princesses from outer space. The models wear glassy lips and a thick swath of opaque white shadow (M.A.C. Pro Chromacake in Pure White) applied with a chopped-up paintbrush to create an erratic edge. It looked like the girls did it themselves. The matte white eyelids contrasted beautifully with the M.A.C ClearLipGlass on the lips. Hairstylist: Anthony Turner.
Makeup artists complete the picture. They ar true artists and Fashion is art…
