For Morning, Noon, And Night: This Is My Ultimate Spring Uniform

There are three pieces that I tend to live in all spring long: a shirtdress, a cropped jacket, and slip-on sneakers. Naturally, when I saw this Spring 2015 Thakoon Addition look almost six months ago, I not only thought, “Here’s a guy that gets me,” but also wondered, “When will bare legs and light jackets become a more than just a dream?”

I’m happy to report that the weather in NYC has warmed up and wearing the combo is finally a reality for me. Celebrate barelegged weather with a replication of the outfit above, in all its springtime glory. The best part? It’s perfect for breakfast with friends, a day full of meetings at the office (heels subbed in as necessary), and will even carry through most evening plans.

At the most basic level, a shirtdress perfectly walks that fine line between a throw-on-and-go silhouette and expertly tailored elegance, resulting in a dress that you can wear almost anywhere, at any time. Additionally, though spring’s fickle weather may call for a jacket, a short, boxy option will keep you warm while outside, while remaining totally appropriate if you choose not to take it off while sitting at your desk for the day. The look will work with nearly any style of flats, but I’m currently shopping for a pair of slip-on sneakers in a fun color or pattern to complete the look!
