Deborah Marquit is no stranger fashion scene; specialising in intimate apparel for women, creating pieces that are bold, innovative, comfortable, and of course a little bit sexy. Bold being stated first, as Marquit was the first fashion designer to use neon colours in women’s lingerie, and since then has played with various ways to present her pieces. The collections express this idea that lingerie is not just something to be covered, but something to celebrate and be worn as everyday clothing. Being able to incorporate the vision for adding her unique lingerie pieces into everyday must haves for, well, almost any outfit, is a true accomplishment for Marquit.
It is clear that Deborah Marquit’s pieces have successfully made their statement over time, as they have been worn by some of Hollywood’s biggest style icons such as Rihanna, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Amber Heard, Scarlet Johansson, M.I.A, Cassie Ventura, Zoe Kravitz… just to name a few. They even appear in the iconic 1994 film, Pulp Fiction; Marquit created a navy blue and white bandana print bustier for Uma Thurman that appears in the resuscitation scene.
Marquit clearly knows how to develop lingerie that brings something fresh to the design but still remains timeless, and it is no different for her Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The collection is called “Sheer Essentials” and the designs definitely speak to the name. The sheer material giving the designs give it that sensuality that all good lingerie should have, but the support underpinnings make the bras appropriate for any time or day. Marquit has introduced seven new colours for this collection, all adhering to the Spring/Summer vibe with audacious colours such as Daffodil Yellow, Fuchsia, Tangerine, Royal Blue, Purple, Crimson Red, and Military Green. Of course, black is available too for something for more classic. The styles also vary with triangle bras, underwired, and even a 50’s bra. These to match, or mix and match, with bikini briefs, hipster briefs, thongs or g-string.
This isn’t just lingerie for every now and then, this is everyday wear that can accompany a street style outfit. Have fun, be creative; be bold, wear Marquit.
