Leave it to the designers at Paris Fashion Week to re-fresh the sporty trend we’ve seen on the previous season’s runways in an unexpectedly très chic way. From the cool girl’s favorite label Carven to Jean Paul Gaultier’s final ready-to-wear collection (sniff), athletic-inspired fashion will never be the same again. And trust us, NO ONE will mistake you for coming from the gym in any of these killer looks.
For his (American) football-inspired spring 2015 collection, Alexandre Vauthier even enlisted players as supporting cast for his NFL motif. You may remember the relatively covered up leather bandeau and high-waisted trousers piece that he custom created for Miley Cyrus at this year’s VMAs. (Hot.) So obviously his leathered up version of lace front football pants would be totally smoking, too.
Talbot Runhof’s “From Russia With Love” political-themed collection featured plenty of cheeky Vladimir Putin images emblazoned on the front of sports jersey-esque tops—with sparkly fringe, of course.
Guillaume Henry’s racing-inspired spring collection for Carven re-imagined Formula 1 stripes on this ultra-luxe python swing coat. The models toting their plush top-handle bags like racing helmets was an especially genius touch.
Alexis Mabille updated the hooded boxing robe as a knockout (get it?) sexy, slinky mini-dress. Rocky‘s got nothing on this one.
For Jean Paul Gaultier ready-to-wear swan song runway show, the designer brought out all his greatest hits, including his “Miss Femme de Footballeur” theme. Model Devon Windsor (obsessed) totally nailed his cut-out shoulder football (as in soccer) jersey paired with shimmery compression shorts and belted with a perforated mesh leather belt-slash-fanny pack. (Hey, do you think her plaits are an ode to that time David Beckham had man-braids?)
