Slouchy or Structured: What’s Your Fall Handbag Style?

No matter what your budget, buying a new fall handbag should always be treated as an investment. A great bag can transform an outfit with a quick sling over the shoulder—so it’s definitely something worth true consideration. In theory, there are two kinds of bag personalities in the world: the slouchy and the structured. I have to admit, however, I think I have both types living within myself on occasion, so it’s hard to choose a favorite.

I love a great slouchy bag because it’s the easiest thing in the world but can still look beautiful. Opt for a variation on a buttery leather tote to hold everything but still look pulled together. I never have to think about what I’m carrying or where I’m going when I’m using my slouchy bags — to the unsuspecting eye, my leather tote pulls together a casual-cool look, but I’m still able to pull things out of it in true Mary Poppins style!

The magic of a structured bag is its ability to instantly elevate anything you’re wearing. And looking back on a summer filled with jean shorts and white T-shirts, I definitely took full advantage of that power. Because I can never have enough good things to say about high-low dressing, I would liken a beautiful structured bag to a great pair of shoes or piece of jewelry: easy accessories that will transform your favorite outfit without much fuss. And how can you not love something as effortlessly elegant as that?
