If you love kooky style news and lots of bling, you might not even be able to handle today’s nugget. For the finale of America’s Got Talent, host Nick Cannon is set to wear diamond-covered shoes valued at $2 million (and, with 14,000 diamonds, weighing in 340 carats). The shoes took nearly a year to make, with four months dedicated just to sourcing the bling, WWD reported. Nick Cannon was said to have contacted Beverly Hills jeweler Jason Arasheben with a request for “the most expensive shoes in the world,” and all was not in vain—they’re currently with the Guinness Book of World Records for consideration as the official title-holders.
Practical minds will wonder about the process and the design team definitely had to work at it, going through seven pairs of shoes until they found the right base in a pair of patent-leather Tom Fords.
“We didn’t want him looking like Frankenstein when he walked. We still needed to consider functionality,” Arasheben said. Of the danger of, you know, actually walking in a pair of $2 million shoes, he assured us it’ll be OK. “He’s not going to win a race or play basketball with these. It’s still a piece of jewelry. As long as he’s not too overly aggressive, everything should be all right.”
