It’s cutting it close to try to buy something new, but there’s a lot that can be done with the items already in your closet. Herewith, ideas to try whether you’re planning on a massive party or a quiet night in.

#2. Your classic, tomboy plaid shirt tucked into a sparkly, festive skirt. (J.Crew, $88)
#3. A leather motorcycle jacket or parka belted and worn as a shirt or dress. (Nasty Gal, $300)
